This is a poem based on the child's party a tale in which children are just dancing and playing. I thought that was dull so I combined that with the legend of Danse Macabre! and this is my poem
The Children's Night-tale
Hush I shall tell thou a tale Of the world long long ago Upon a stormy night a world bestowed By humans; not by fairy-things Once upon this playtime scene Remote from doth who care Close thine eyes; beg for sweet dreams As I tell thou what was there! Oh behold what this time rewinds What miserable, miserable disarray! See thy little ones calmly resign from thy mothering state Imagine they cry and pray! Yelling; running in the rain; Feeding on each others pain!
Who's his partner in delinquency, -- But the children learning axinomancy? A doll--a you say; just simply dancing— To a music box’s Danse macabre? Well I never! Do you see? Three corpses meet with, three living beings— In that looking glass’s undulation fair.
What is it you see over there? Three rich men, wiled to repent By their own deceased hearts As chanting with the child’s play of make believe; "Such as I was you are, And such as I am you will be. What an inhumane thing to say to one who’s not deceased!
Not a real live horse they had road like grown to kill their meat But rather had they shut their eyes And pretended they could be. You say, prancing as they met Their bereavement; in oh a frightful way?
Well, I never! See such a thing? The nightmares That these children play!
