As some of you might know...I'm one of those artsy kinds of people...but recently I've had really bad mental block, and this is bugging me like mad. I know what I want to draw, and I know how to...but there's something in the middle that's stopping me. What can I do?!  |

listen to music without words. that helps me sometimes. While words are nice they get in the way of your creativity and ideas, expecialyl if you know what you want to do but are just having trouble getting it out on paper.
you could always try changing media. If acrylic, go to oil. If oil, go to printmaking or even coloured pencils or maybe charcol.
try to think "whats stoping me" if you know what you want to draw and how to do it, then there must be a reason you cant get it done. Fear? Lack of concentration? Lack of motivation? Too busy with other things?
only you can answer that question so rack your brain untill you find a suitable answer to your artists-bloc. good luck violet

Humm... it's difficult but you can also try reading/looking at books about art/artists... sometimes I get inspiration from the way other people work. ^^ And it's nice to have a clear space... y'know, like get rid of old stuff that's bugging you, shove it all away in a cupboard or under the bed or something... and another thing I like to do is change scale... like work unexpectedly really big (and changing media is a good idea too ^^) or perhaps smaller than usual... if you feel you're getting all tied up and inhibited you could try getting a little sketchbook (like A6 size) and going "Right, today I'm gonna FILL UP this little book!" and just do loads and loads of sketches, don't bother whether they look amazing or not, and combine media, and stick things in that you like the look of... and what not... etc. etc.... I'll shut up blathering, shall I?! ;D |
