a poem i wrote in english class in jan '05

does anyone remember the 'makepovertyhistory' campain that ran all of last year? If not it was basicaly a bunch of different charities uniting for one cause, to attempt to wipe out povery in the poorer countries in the world by getting larger developed countries like the uk and america to drop the depts that these poorer countries owed. Anyway lol my teacher asked us to write something about the campain 9like for a newspaper or something) that would help to raise public awareness about the campain and this is what i came up with.

Changes

Out with the old
and in with the new
So how come the people
Are feeling so blue?

Clear out the clutter
And sort out the junk
You might just discover
A way out of this funk

Finish the things
That you never quite did
put things on Ebay
And someone might bid

2005
Is all about change
We know at the start
This may all feel quite strange

"Poverty will be
A thing of the past"
Although we agree
How long will it last?

This change can be permanent
The cards have been dealt
All we need now
Is for people to help
