Hear in the dark of night, in the ocean, close to shore, we really need to see a beacon of light
I know we are close to the shore of Egypt, close to rip tides, close to a rocky shore
Where is the light house that is supposed to be there? We need that light, that is supposedly to be so very bright
I know we are close to shore, the boat bobbing up and down, no one knows for sure what lies in store.
In these times of things unknown, we need a little confidence, to make sure our fate is not death
All I know, is I can feel the spray of ocean water on my face, as I pray to the Gods for protection
I know none of us wants to die, no one wants to take our last breath
I just wish we had the light of day, wishing we were under a very bright sun
But here we are in the dead of night, and in the midst of a storm
The wind is fiercely blowing, all we can do is hold on, so we don't fall into the sea
We know we are close to shore, but we don't know how close because of night and the oncoming storm
I don't want to die, I have a family that totally depends on me
All my men and I we try to be brave, even though things are looking very bad
But then in the curtain of darkness, we finally see a very bright light
We follow the light, giving us hope, to take a breath of relief and not be scared and sad
Our self confidence now starts to return, because we can see the very bright light.
Praise to the Gods, our path now is very clear
Through the wind and rain, the light is brighter, than the lightning, that now lights up the dark night sky
Because of the light, past the jagged rocks, we can safely veer
I have heard the light is brighter than any other, what truth in this, a sigh of relief, as I realize we are safe, and no one will die.
We will safely dock in Alexandria, the city of the Ptolemy's
The light house here is known by any sea fearing man
It's reputation, the lighthouse, it supercede itself, a welcomed sight to anyone who really think on the ocean they might die
The Lighthouse of Alexandria, bigger than any through out the land.
