I stand before this court, accused of a crime of which I am free of guilt
Here in the fifteenth century, being accused of witchcraft, is really part of the norm
I am totally innocent, my soul is not blackened by evil, as I am totally free of guilt
I have never practiced witchcraft in any way, shape, or form.
In these days, when certain things cannot be explained, witchcraft is a justifiable accusation, ordained by the law
But this law I believe was created by men, scared of things they just don't understand
Those that accuse me stand before you like they are guiltless, but there is untruth, in what they say they saw
But now it seems the accusation of wit craft runs rampant through out the land.
But these people saw they saw me sign the devil's book, them saying a pen from his very claw.
I have never been mean or unjust to any one or anything
But those that accuse me there isn't one ounce of truth in what they say
Don't you understand to God and the good book, to them, I only wish to cling
Through out my entire life, I have only wished to live my life in the right way
My husband owned a lot of land, if I were out of the way, the land would be up for grabs
Is there an unknown reason behind your accusations that are such an unjust lie?
That taste of power in your mouth. is this why me, in my very back you stab?
This court has already judged me without hearing my pleas or the unanswered question as to why.
I have to wonder how many more have been put to death over this very same thing
Never able to ever have children, to my land I have no heirs
My land,if owned by others, to happiness it would them bring
So it does not surprise me, this kangaroo court is so unfair.
Being found guilty of witch craft, that is no surprise to me
Burned at the stake, this is the punishment I get for something I have not even done
As my flesh will burn from my very bones, the stench of the smoke, I not able to breath,on deaf ears falls my prayer and my plea
From the stake I say." My soul will never rest for what you have unjustly done, my soul shall roam forever and a day under the very sun."
