You may have noticed something near your name that says "exalt" and "smite". This is a feature I enabled called karma.
Karma is essentially your popularity rating, you can exalt or smite a particular user, although you can only judge every hour.
I think this feature may help reduce spam as the spammer may be fearful of gaining a negative Karma rating, it would also stop people deliberately trying to upset the other users.
Being the administrator I can alter your karma if I think it is being unfairly distributed (say I make foblin give me 20 points and ill give her 20...that is unjust!) Many contests do not award specific prizes, but will award an alloted amount of exalt karma points. This doesnt garentee your winning the contest, but it gives you an advantage to other members.
After an alloted period of time the person with the most karma on the board wins a special something
