dye for skin?

What sort of things could I use to dye my skin for a reasonable amount of time or permanent.

ive been told a few things but im not certain if they are true or not...

Iodine
Hair Dye
Henna (apparently black henna is not henna but is a snythetic coal tar dye and can be v. dangerous, and is not health approved. henna is a brown to red colour)
Indigo (have no clue how expensive or avalible this is)

any ideas?

just out of interest, why are you planning to dye your skin? Is it for a tatoo or something?

eeeek I wouldn't dare try to dye my skin with hair dye. I'm pretty sure there's warnings all over the boxes telling you not to use it on your skin *unless you meant with like special effects or manic panic, which I'm pretty sure aren't toxic for your skin*

arent those warnings becuase the dyes will stain your skin? thatis what i want lol.

hmm when I had my hair special effects blood red, my skin was tinted pink for the duration that I had it that color. it'll stain your skin but it's not going to last forever or anything.
