Hello everyone! I know I haven't been here in a while but I've been busy. Hope everyone is doing good and those who are in school, hope you are looking forward in going back. Here's my question: My hair is presently a reddish/blondish/lightbrownish color on top and darker brown/black underneath. I want to get the red out of my hair. Does anyone know of any hair dyes that would dye over the red without coming out? I've tried dyeing black over the red but it washed out within a week or so. Any ideas??

use permanent. any other will fade. I reccommend Schwarzkopf =] they're the brand I use mostly. you may still have a red tint sometimes, but there's not much else you could do =/

Ya I do use permenant dye, that's the only type I use. The brand name I used for the black, i don't remember what it was. I'm open to hear your suggestions on those tricks Stephie...I did use a permenant dye but it washed out.

red is the hardest color to remove from your hair, second to black. and actually, while you can get all of the black out, sometimes red will continue to linger long after. it's a biotch to try and get out.
get yourself some permanent black dye, if you want to try and just dye over the red. eventually it'll fade away/seep in deeper til you can't see it anymore.
however if you decide to BLEACH your hair, during the process you'll see every color you've ever used come out. it's kinda fun, even though I haven't had funky colored hair since I was like 16, if I were to bleach my hair now I'd get a rainbow of colors during the processing phase of it.

Stephie, Dye doesn't develop any longer than about an hour, so leaving it on longer has no effect. i think just try different brands or bleach it. =/ though I'd say get bleach done professionally...my DIY bleach went ginger

I thought of bleaching my hair, but the last time I did it, I did it myself and I screwed up my hair bigtime. Went to a hair dresser and she screwed it up even more (went to her cause she was the cheapest) It goes to show things are not always best when cheaper. Better to pay a little extra to get it done right the first time. I bought a blond dye to try over the red, then will put a black in. Think that would work in getting the red out?
