Looking out the window, on the stormy meadow, my mind travels back through time and space
Back to a time when my hair was brown, not the color of gray that it is today
The wrinkles and lines that are now present, then they were absent from my face
A time when I was happy, young, and gay.
A time when this farm was only used for the breeding and boarding of horses, caring for them day to day
When we had employees young and old, men and women, boys and girls
One girl in particular caught my with her long dark hair, big blue eyes, a person with whom I wanted to spend each and every day
Little did I know I know in the wings waiting, a serious romance was waiting to unfurl.
Every day together,we took care of the horses, making sure we meet their each and every need
Until one day, a brand new horse arrived, an auburn colored horse, brought to us, to board until his owner could sell him to some one else
The first time you saw him, I knew, you had fallen in love with him, I knew you and you alone would look after his every need
The closer you became to him, only you would ride him you wouldn't let any one else.
After a while, you told me you were going to buy the horse, as the two of you had become very very close
You had even picked out a name for him, because of his unusual color, you would name him, blazing mane
You boarded him here, and over the years, we also became very close, between us, love became a host
Our romance sooned turn into something very special, that same year, you took my last name.
For many years our lives together were very good, this even included, Blazing Mane, and soon two children made their presence known
Each day you religiously rode Blazing Mane, then there was that very awful horrific day
On that day the skies darkened very quickly, and the air became bone chilling cold, more than a person in a light jacket could condone
It started snowing, you were hurrying to get home, Blazing Mane, tripped on a rock, falling breaking your neck and the horse's leg, we had to kill him without delay.
That was very long ago, any kind of storm, reminds me of that awful horrific event
Every once in a while I see you riding Blazing Mane, across the pasture, during any kind of storm, be it sun or be it rain
Our daughter starts calling me for supper, I have never told her what I have seen, to this she doesn't have a hint
She would think I was going senile, if I told her I had seen, her mother in the meadow, as she was riding upon Blazing Mane.
