...and I couldn't be happier. After nearly 23 years of growing up in Christian surroundings, I've finally came to the conclusion that the Church's view on God is horribly narrow-minded and greatly flawed. I'm still waiting for someone to explain to me how a God of love and mercy could show as much pettiness, jealousy, and vengeance and is portrayed in the Old Testament, and the excuse of "Oh, God didn't cause any of those terrible things, He just allowed them to happen." just doesn't cut it for me. If I could effortlessly save someone from great harm and did nothing, I would be widely considered just as wicked as if I'd victimised the person myself. These are only the begginings of the problems I'm finding. I won't try to bore you with the whole list. I apologize if I offend any Christians reading this, and I don't hate the church, but the more I've studied Christian teachings lately the less sense it's made to me, so I finally denounced Christianity as my religion a bit over one month ago. I'm thinking of changing my name now, because my current name (Abraham John Christian) is just a bit too religious for my likings now. I'm playing around with ideas for what my new name might be, but Raphael Freeman is stuck in my head, and everyone I've run it past has told me it sounds good, so I'll probably go with that. God knows how I'll break all this to my mother...

I agree, the church is greatly flawed. And the way this worlds history is recorded in the Bible is...bad. But never give up on Our Lord.

i think it's great that you have come to your own conclusions on what you choose to believe although your name doesnt neceserally reflect your religion and you might want to consider perhap keeping your name, for exampe my name's Eve, which i think is a jewish name? (correct me if i'm wrong) but i'm not religious at all, and neither are my parents. people dont tend to read into it too much. xxx
