yucky article!
"Goodbye Barbie, hello Inferno the 'dead doll'
November 20 2002 at 01:10PM Athens - Greece has banned the sale of "dead dolls", children's toys featuring fiery eyes, scarred faces and bloodied mouths which come in their own little coffins.
The dolls also have their own death certificates.
"There is no way we will allow these dolls on the market," Deputy Development Minister Christos Theodorou said on Wednesday.
Only a handful of the gruesome dolls, produced by American company Mezco Toyz, have been imported. They were on sale for only a few days before authorities swooped to confiscate them.
The 25cm high toys, called "Living Dead Dolls", cost about €50 (almost R500) and include Sybill, wearing a jacket, collar and chain, and Inferno, who has auburn hair, fiery eyes and bat-like wings."

I think it's sad that there are still SO many places that put limits on personal freedoms like that they're just toys!

Old news to me but think about it. lots of toys are conficated all the time here due to health reasons. this one is no expection. its "health of mentality". Lets face it. to little kids LDDS are scary to them and its not somthing they are used to. Just my opinion. ;D

I get what you're saying Kasey, but that is just control, pure and simple.

I get what you're saying Kasey, but that is just control, pure and simple. i think the same. banning is not a solution. just selling them with control if they are worried about little kids. parents have always the last word in what their children have as toys information + control

I do see what you are saying when I read this story about 2 years ago. I thought the same thing. Then again its a country that maybe Horror related products are not as distruded as it is here. Yes it is controll plain and simple I agree with that but im not a parent so I dont have much to go on. : )

i'm not a parent but i guess it would be what my mum would do with me if i were younger & she was worried about my toys. but yeah, it also depends on the country & who knows... anyway nowadays you can get whatever you want to through the internet... so i think they didn't make a big point banning them. they maybe even got some people curious about the dolls ;D

To kids they may be scary, my god-sister plays with my LDDs all the time, so do many children i know, but you should be able to sell what you want, and if some kid sees any LDD and wants it, if the parents allow, then they should get it, if they dont want ti then they dont buy it.

I agree with dedkid666, my cousin is 5 years old and she just loves my Tina Black (And she scares the living shit out of some of my family members...) and she plays with her, I don't think today's kids think they are gory or scary, because the kids today are more mature and wake up to the world a bit to early, and they are not easily scared.
If I had a kid, I'd let the child play with my dolls. I don't think he'd get scared.

i love my dolls and so do my little cousins who are 6 and 4 years old....but thats becuase they see them as "silly dollies trick or treating" (guess they think of halloween!) but as they get older around 10 or so they may find them disturbing. yet so do my parents

But Inferno's so pretty! I can see why they wouldn't like our pretty Dollies, but it's sad. Silly people.
