Hi everyone. I am going through the horrible times in my 18 year old life. I have horrible thoughts of suicide and its not good. I hurt myself with nail clippers. Luckly I have stopped that. Anywho, I think I know the source of the problem. I can get too emotional my mental problems of Schizophrena and Multiple Personalities isn't helping any although I am very good at controling that and no spells has happened. I haven't told anyone in fear of abondement. I am angry all the time. Just about anything gets me very angry. I just converted into Catholicism. My family isn't very happy although my mom is cool with it. I was thinking of saving up some cash to get my gender change or the profession I want to do. I have these feelings for years. I do have to ask. What is the best way to go through this? Am I being very selfish? I also have a friend that is very ill and has me worried that the doctors wont be able to cure what she is. Help!

Firstly, don't get back onto self harm. about your friend - I suggest being there for her and making sure you have the best times you can together. the mental problems - It's good that you can control them, but I'm not sure about your anger. If you can give an insight into why the anger might have started it would help, In the mean time you could take it out on a pillow or matress or something, maybe write your emotions down? and finally, It's great that you've converted to catholic, it shows that you stand for what you believe, I'm sure your family will accept it in time I agree with saving some money so that you can use it to get into a profession you want, but i say wait a year or two and make sure that you definatly want to have a gender change. Be positivly sure you won't regret it before going through with it. I don't think you're being selfish.

I agree with everything that eve said. although i have to say that a gender change is a big deal.... enjoy your last years as a teen and your years as a young adult....then decide if you want to go through with it. it is a huge deal.....not trying to scare you....but be 1000% positive you want to do it first.

you know.. i used to be plaqued with these thoughts as well.. i would contemplate suicide over the most trivial of things.. but when i got older and life got even harder, and though, it seemed that i had a reason to think such thoughts, i didn't and do you know why? it is becuase everything happens for a reason. you were put here for a reason, however, it is not for you to know what that reason is.. and you should know that you may think that your life is insignificant, and that you have not effect on people, but you are wrong.. for example you could be walking past a man in the street, accidentally brushing past him, causing him to drop his briefcase, and at the very moment he bends down to pick it up, a drunk driver comes speeding around the corner.. and the ironic thing is that you may not realize it, but you just saved that man's life. becuase if you hadn't brushed past him, he wouldn't have dropped his briefcase, and would have ended up crossing the street and he would have been killed by that drunk driver. i know that this seems improbable.. but it is definitely not impossible. thinking this way is what helps me from going too deep into my depression, or thinking about suicide..

wow! I really haven't thought about that usueally what I do to ease thoughts is to do humor and take pictures of my doll collections. I should try that kind of thinking.

those are good things to do as well.. but as far as the thinking is concerned.. this way of thinking does put a different perspective on things..
