I just dont get it... why are we ourselves, why are we here? How did it start? How did our souls come into us randomly? It just all doesn't make sense.

I have those same questions lov...i dont know how we got here lol but I do know that I was here before. I dont know if i believe in reincarnation but then I have to question a) my excessive deja vu b) My empathic connections with people c) My heightened senses. sometimes i think those three things could just be a sixth sense but for all i know it coulda been memories of my past life! What are we hear you wonder.... well I know I am here becuase I promised a friend of mine I wouldnt kill myself no really...its becuase the world works miracles...think the simplest thing like a microscoping cell in your...your hair follicle...something so small yet theres some whole stupid scientific way those things live and work together just to keep your skin work the way its supposed to. The trees grow and without them we wouldnt breathe but without the process of photosynthesis trees wouldnt grow and to get photosynthesis you need sun without the sun...well you get the point. we are hear becuase we make choices, do things at random or live our ways to make some sort of change in this world...if it is worth it; i cannot say...but it certinatly is amazing. If you want to get even deeper into your questioning.... how is it that some people can leave there body? there are so many theroys and ideas...fascinating to talk about but bit depressing to live sometimes !

This stuff makes my brain hurt xD but I'm a Christian so I really don't have any questions about it all. It's just sort of confusing to think about sometimes

I'm not catholic... or christian for that matter.... so i often wonder what goth squirrel does. and i agree with eve... i'm a big believer in everything doesn't happen for a reason. innocent people die of cancer for a reason? also, you make your own fate. every choice you make has an impact on you later in life.

Yes, I believe that events are consequences of your choices.

The opnly reason something happens in my life is because I made it happen, that's my view. I'm completly in control. ;D

I agree with you eve. everything is a result of your choices. as much as you may hate it. if you are in a bad situation i's usually bacause your judgement got you there... not because if 'fate' sometimes things won't work out in the end. that's just how it is

I don't particularly have a view on life after death, I believe something happens to your soul when you die but I've not quite figured it all out yet As for 'why are we here?', well, it's because your mom and dad made that choice...so show them it was a good descision and make the most of it ;D

i don't think that everything happens for a reason, but some things do - it seems like a mixed bag of purposeful events and random cruelty, which i guess just might be the basic struggle between good&evil in the christian sense or between order and chaos if you do not.
i do think we have free will/make our own choices but i believe in fate, too (confusing, i know!) it is kind of like one of those choose-your-own-adventure books; you decide what to do/where to go, but what will happen once you make those choices has in some instances already been written (that and sometimes no matter what choices you make you end up in the same place). does that make sense? i am sure some of you will not agree, which is ok.
ps -in spite of whatever other forces may or may not be operating in our lives, i still believe very strongly in taking full responsibility for oneself and not blaming someone/something else for your actions/choices

I believe everything happens for a reason, no doubt about it. But for those who don't believe this, tell me one thing. My youngest son had to have an operation at 3 weeks old or he would have died, what did he do to make this happen??? Or I do for him to have this operation??

I don't think that you or your son did anything to deserve what happened to him. no young child ever deserves to suffer like that. If his need for an operation did serve a purpose (which it may or may not have depending on what a person believes), we could guess and say maybe it was to inspire him or someone else close to him to go into the medical field, to strengthen his bond with his family, to remind everyone how precious and fragile life is or something along those lines. the truth is that you might never know what the real purpose of that event was (if you are christian then maybe you get to find out in the afterlife what the purpose of all of that pain and suffering was, if not then whether or not you ever get to know the true purpose of the event and when would depend on your belief system) all purpose-wondering aside, lostsoul, how did you get through those times? is your son ok now? i am asking because my son has been going for alot of tests lately- they think something is wrong with his metabolism but they don't know what it is yet or how to treat it until they identify it - he could need drugs, surgery, i don't know. some days i am ok but somedays i think i am going to lose it.

As you believe in fate, who - or what - is it that decides your fate? This question is why I believe everything happens purly because of the actions people choose to take, you may not have known or meant for your action to result in the event, but it did. It may have not even been your choice that caused it but someone elses.
I know it's alot easier to just say 'It's because of Fate' but do you really want to believe that your being controlled?
